Struggling actors work their butts off, and the payoff sometimes takes a very long time. These 19 actors get honest about what it's like to actually work as an actor. These confessions paint a picture to the term, "starving artist."

The struggle is so real.

As a struggling actor, I choose to sleep in my car and shower at the gym to be able to make my lifestyle affordable.

Fake it until you make it. Literally...

Worst part being an actor. Having to work with people you don't really care about. And act like you like them on stage.

Such a bummer.

The most defeating part about being an actor is when you actually think you did good in an audition and you feel that you might have a chance at getting a good role and then you get an ensemble role.
I don't think anyone realizes how hard it is being an actor in the theatre. It is physically and emotionally demanding. There are no redo's if you mess up a scene like in TV and movies and you get paid basically nothing.
I am an actress and I got my big break by sleeping with a producer years ago. Yes, that stuff happens

Not as glamorous as it may seem.

Everyone wants to be an actor... I'm a working actor and I hate it. It's not glamorous. It kills your self esteem and makes you feel so lonely.
